Nikola Tesla died in New York in 1943. He had no children, so his nephew, Sava Kosanović, transferred all his personal belongings and items to Belgrade and bequeathed them for the founding of the Nikola Tesla Museum. The museum was established in 1952 and opened to the public in 1955. In 1957, an urn with Nikola Tesla’s remains was brought to the museum. The museum holds over 200,000 documents and personal items of Nikola Tesla.
